How My Parents Raised an Expert Communicator

How do you raise a good communicator? How do you teach kids to be kind but not a pushover? And what actually matters when it comes to parenting?

In this episode, I’m sitting down with the two people who shaped my life the most—my parents.

This is a personal one. But whether you're a parent, thinking about becoming one, or just curious about how childhood shapes the way we communicate, I think you’ll take something valuable away from this conversation.

❤ how he calls his mom mama. The way he looks at her is so beautiful. Same way his dad looks at her. Beautiful family.

Didn't know I could possibly love Jefferson more. After hearing his beautiful Parents speak of his upbringing, I just want all new parents to see this. "How to raise a Jefferson".

I teared up on the part where your beautiful parents talked about how they blessed you and prayed for you. No wonder you turned out to be a good person. I can see it by how you talked to your parents. Such a joy to watch.

Your parents intentional dedication to God and their prayers can not be underestimated. I have been following you for a while and I could see God’s hand on you.

Your Dad explaining importance of saying sorry and being accountable ❤ he has taught you well. More fathers need to be this example to their sons to encourage healthy expression of emotions and put a stop to the epidemic of male entitlement which sets the stage for them to become abusers.

Our generation is starving for better communication and healing. I appreciate this episode so much. I sent it to my daughter that has a 5 month old.

I'm getting ready to go to an appointment. Sitting in my car frozen by this episode. How beautiful to have the parents be first Jefferson your affirmation to them on their positive impact on your life, what a privilege and gift. That's the kind of child I'd hope to be for my Emotional episode. Kleenex!

Can you do another segment with your parents where you talk more in depth and detailed about what they consider disrespect, and what they did not consider disrespect, meaning specific behaviours from the kids. And can they explain what discipline means? Because for a lot of us, we don’t have a healthy sense of what is considered disrespect from others and what is considered discipline or consequences. Some of us just don’t know
