It's really tough for actors to portray characters who've already been previously cast with their perfect roles... kinda like X-Men with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine or Iron Man RDJ as Tony Stark. Once those shoes have been filled, very seldom would we see succeeding actors do those characters justice.

Some angles were cool and stuff but nothing can outdo Donnie Yen as Ip Man currently. I actually do Wing Chun for going on two years now thanks to the Ip man franchise that inspired me, and one of the things you’re advised to do actually is look calm at all times like Donnie Yen did. This guy strains his face every time he does chain punches, like he’s using muscle, and wing Chun is all about relaxation. So from a real martial artist’s perspective, that’s another reason why I prefer Donnie Yen’s wing Chun; not to mention he was actually trained a little by Ip Chun, Ip Man’s eldest son so idk about this guy’s training. He’s not bad but Donnie Yen is just the goat. Ip Man 1 was too legendary to try and re do in my honest opinion
