I love it when my crank bait gets caught on a rock and it breaks off

Reel speed should be very slow... high gear ratio can overpower a crankbait and it will not run correctly... 4.1 to 5.3 is essential...

Always great info from you Glenn. I, too, remove the line tie split ring and replace with a snap for the same reasons. I also use a snap for most topwater baits(not buzzbaits though) and chatterbaits. I've been using braided line for my crankbait fishing, but I have been tinkering with flourocarbon for worms and fixing to start using for swim jigs and now crankbaits too. Thanks for all you do for the bass fishing community! Keep it up and see you in the forums. 😎

Power Pro Moss green braid 20 pd. No stretch. I have never used Flouro. Maybe its fine. Mono breaks way to much. Bounce that crank off the rip rap. The bass will kill it! Shawn

FINALLY, I am not alone! All my friends laugh at me because I cast and reel with my right hand. I have tried and tried to no avail to cast left and reel right.

I’m glad to find a video that educates and shows you technique rather than some asshole cutting to every fish he’s caught, much appreciated, thank you.

I had wondered what mini-guides were good for. Now I know, Increased sensitivity to changes in vibration. Thanks Glenn!

Really enjoyed this video. Offered some good tips to help me get better at this technique. One thing I do that has helped prevent hang ups is clipping off the front hook on the front treble that lays under the belly. If it gets hung on structure, it's usually that bottom hook on the front treble. Hook up ratio stays the same. Keep em coming bassresource!

Why does the snap fall apart after three or four changing of hooks??

I lost some good small mouth using a medium heavy rod for cranking. I bought a medium moderate fast and I catch a lot more fish. Good tips as always Glenn.

Okuma Helios is s nice combo. I had the opportunity to look at one at a local fishing convention.

That Okuma combo is really nice.... thank for the video... the line guide on the reel looks like it could really handle the line well when you lay heavy into a cast with a distance type lure... love that vertical i also work snaps on my cranks ... would a Rapala loop knot straight to a crankbait be a bad idea? I know tying an sd jam or a palomar knot straight to a plug minus a split ring really hinders the lure... but a loop?
