5 Minute Fish Talk Episode 55
Crankbaits are a phenomenal way to catch big bass, but they can be tricky to learn! Because crankbaits come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, it can be very intimidating to figure out which one is the best for you. If you are trying to gain confidence in, and learn how to throw a crankbait, this video should help you.

This is a big topic so I couldn’t cover everything in 5 minutes. If you have any further questions about how to throw a crankbait, drop a comment below.

“Bust on some bass”. Sounds somewhat inappropriate lmao

Color choice? The single most confusing thing when looking at the wall of 1000 crankbaits at Bass Pro is...color and pattern.

I just started using crankbaits about 2 weeks ago and now I’m obsessed. I’m a Florida bank fisherman so everywhere I fish is quite shallow. I love the 6th Sense Movement and the Rapala Shallow Shad Rap!

Ethan, we share similar sentiments about cranks. I didn't use them for many years because of where I fished was 1. From the bank and 2. The water was full of aquatic vegetation. However, there's lots of lakes where crankbaits are really good. My largest fish was a 40 lb flathead on a crankbait in Milford reservoir in Kansas. Wiggle Warts and Rock Crawlers work well in Ozark lakes like Table Rock on places with fewer submerged trees. I hope to fish cranks more this year. Don

Very good information for a beginner trying to learn to use something other than a worm/bobber setup! Would love to see you showcase using these out on the water with a walkthrough, mostly because your explanation is so clear and concise it'd be nice to see the visual along with it. I especially did not know that these could bounce off or navigate underwater obstacles like gravel or rocks.

Love your videos!! Michigan fishing can be tough this time of year. Can't wait for the water to open up and give a go on some of my crankbaits. Thanks for sharing your info and knowledge on crankbaits!! Best Fishes!

Oh wait I forgot😂. To get all of that amazing stuff from Jesus all you have to do is to ask for forgiveness and ask Jesus into your life! Please choose Jesus, and all of that will be yours!

Hello, can I use a small 2-3 inch crankbait for creek/ river fishing. I don’t know whether or not it would be a good idea?

You are so right about having confidence in the bait that you are fishing with... the more confidence, the better that you will work your bait...

Can you explain how to tie, connect a crank bait to the mono? Tie a knot vs a clip?

I never understand how so many watch a video and don't hit like

How do you retrieve them? Just a straight in reel, a stop and go reel, help it move side to side? What works best?

Another quality video; thanks Ethan. I actually stopped fishing all crankbaits early last season when I sunk a wakebait in my leg. I figured if I’m gonna hook myself again I’d rather it just be one hook; haha. I too am more confident with a soft plastic (specifically a finesse technique) rigged up. By the way, check out the new ZMan Bang StickZ for Neko Rigging; I just ordered mine today! ( sorry I changed the topic).

I have a question here, if i'm fishing a crankbait, do i want to reel it in faster or slower? And also one thing that has been bugging me for quite a while, if i'm fishing for pike, does the same prinviple apply as to bass fishing?
Thank you for the answers in advance

Hi I just got into bass fishing and while walking on the bank I found a square bill crank bait and should I use that or a weightless Texas rig worm? I can’t choose btw for me it’s sunny and 66 f in the air also the water is like 3 feet clarity or less there is lots of fallen trees in the water
