This works well, just got a ring off my girlfriend using this technique, except I used electrical tape as a tourniquet instead of the fancy device. We tried the floss method first and it didn't work, but this did!

Use a piece of panty hose . Have some one hold one end . Starting at tip, wrap tightly. Slip the other end under ring . Slowly unwrap hose, having someone continue to hold other end of hose tightly. Worked for me .
