This would've been the perfect ending

It always hurts to know this ending was cut. The movie was so good, and Will was a surprisingly good Neville, it hurts to say I thought he did better than Vincent Price. I like this different take on the ending, rather than killing him, letting him live with the guilt of what he did. I still prefer the book ending, but this is leagues better than the theatrical ending.

So that's why i was confused when i watched this movie again on the tv channel because i remembered watching it on dvd and i was pretty sure that he died at the ending but then this ending was the one that is being shown and me and my gradnfather was confused.

They changed it because it was too deep for quality

Nope. I don't like it. It undermines the whole movie. The infected people never had this type of restraint and emotion. I see why it was cut.

This ending is the DEFINITION of hokey. I don’t mind suspending disbelief- as a viewer watching a “zombie” flick I’ve already done plenty of that. But the idea tht these insensate brain melted zombies the whole time still posses this level of sentimentality is so cringe to me. The ridiculous emotional outburst screeches. The nuzzling. It’s brutal to watch imo
