In the original I am legend, the zombie vampire creatures are actually very intelligent. IIRC the MC finds out that he is basically like the boogy man for these guys, so the title I Am Legend actually refers to the MC but as a legend from the POV of the creatures and with a more negative connotation

Always liked the alternate ending more.
