The therapist is SO defensive in this clip. Her inability to refrain from interrupting other people's thoughts shows that she has a one track mind and unable to take accountability for being mistaken which is something we all are at some point. I haven't seen the whole thing but it's clear that she doesn't fully believe what she is trying to defend.

My daughter came out as a boy who likes girls (lesbian, honestly) at age 13. We told her we loved her no matter what. We moved out of state for work. 6 months later she came to us and told us that she wanted to be a girl again and that she only said she wanted to be a boy because her teacher and friends told her that if she liked girls, she has to become a boy (internalized homophobia). We told her that was absolutely not true. 2 years later, she is living as a 15 year old female, happy and she's excited, but nervous, about meeting friends again in her new school. She had to be homeschooled for 2 years due to pandemic and her fear of public school. She is in a Christian private school now and she is welcomed how she is. They have been so kind and patient with her!

But this won't fit your narrative, so you will ignore it. But imagine if this went further and she medically transitioned as a teen. What do you think would have happened when she realized she wasn't a boy???

In the area of U.S. pediatric care, the gender-affirming treatment model replaced the evidence based medicine model in 2017. This gender-affirming model will end with inevitable civil settlements initiated by de-transitioners and those harmed by the treatments. Because of the lack of professional assessment, diagnosis and informed consent before treatment, those engaged in the gender-affirmation model will have no defense in court for bad patient outcomes and any former patients who feel that they were harmed by the medical/surgical interventions they received.

The only reason a teacher should keep something from a parent is if that parent is being accused of abuse. Then you report that to the authorities. But there's a healthy way to bring everyone together to help a child like this.

ok "a danger to themselves or others" a lot of child-on-child abuse happens when kids experiment with each other to "figure things out" because people don't explain things properly.
