Cruising by new car dealerships in Plano, Texas to show just how bad the chip shortage is impacting new car supply and sales. BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes are all showing signs of stress.

not just cars, basically anything that isn't domestically sourced will be problematic as far as supply.

The toyota dealership in Temple only has about 6 new cars total. Not many used either. The shortage has driven used car prices through the roof, I actually just sold my 2021 GMC 2500HD for (significantly) more than I paid for it 6 months ago. I can't remember a time when you could sell a used car (that wasn't an exotic allocation) for a profit 6 months later.

Very interesting. I ordered a 2021 vehicle on January 9. Estimated time of arrival was originally March, then June and now August. I recently decided to just wait for a 2022 which the dealer totally understood.

It’s gonna be worse in 2022
China 🇨🇳 main shipping port just closed
Houston main port is back logged for 12-18 months
New Jersey’s ports are back logged the same amount
Walmart shelves are becoming empty again
It’s about to get nasty
Time to stock up!!

Looks like carnage to me.

I don't know about new way of life. Give it about a year. But yeah, don't buy a car now... new or used, or you may see this as the "new way". Stocks, housing, all have gone crazy. It will crash, but inflation is real and the crash may not be as hard, but it will crash.
