When you said the exhaust on that Isuzu with the blown head gasket smelled sweet it reminded me of something I saw a long time ago. A friend of mine thought he had a blown head gasket and mentioned it to a guy that was a mechanic. The mechanic went to the tailpipe, swished his finger around inside it then licked his finger and said "Yep, head gasket. It tastes sweet".

SRT was nose down in the water. Water line on the seat on an angle, plus would account for the engine being completely submerged.

twin cam aluminum cylinder heads warp after 50, 000 miles even sooner, most of the time you have to have the head resurfaced, and most shops wont resurface the head unless the valves are removed, so you might as well resurface the valves and seats and check spring pressure

I had a Towncar almost like 80’s one you were looking at 40, 000 miles is most likely original definitely a senior citizen car and definitely garaged. That 5.0 engine is a beast mine lasted over 300, 000 before I was forced to retire it. Aged out of my airport limo fleet. The Towncar with 170, 000 is most likely transmission they usually last about 140, 000 transmissions for those cars are easy to swap out. The motors on the Panther platform go over 300, 000 with proper maintenance. Love the body on frame cars. No wonder why you took time off. I too would be pissed about that Benz.

Hey @autoauctionrebuilds on the Saturns, any of their 4 cylinders will run forever. Just stay away from the automatic transmissions, stick the the 5-speed manuals. We have two Saturn Vues at my house and my step mom
Has a Saturn ion just like the one in the video and with regular maintenance, they’re all running strong!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the Mercedes, You never know how bad the winner would have wanted it. May have went higher than willing to pay and also may have been a money pit. I've had the same feeling about bidding on other things. Really not much you can do except deal with next thing life throws at you and go from there. Thanks again. If that Lincoln was a old person's car, 43k is possible. My 84 year old mother only has 40k on her 2000 Cadillac. Her last Cadillac had 42k after 18 years.
