He said unplug the chord from the wall socket. Hell, why stop there. Let’s go switch off all the electrical circuit breakers in the house while we’re at it.

You actually don't need to unplug it anymore. Just go to safe mode, it's right next to rebuild database.

Arriving home after work and listening to this power on *bip* is so satisfying.

The worst part about these clickbait titles is that when you actually need to do this, and want to try to find the video in search, it will be completely impossible.

I use my PS5 like the beast it is and have not had any kind of slowdowns period. The PS4 did this to me as well, but ever since the PS4 pro Sony seems to have figured out better cache usage as I haven’t had any slowdowns ever on the Pro or the PS5

The video title should have been, “Have you tried turning it off and on again?”

We need more people like this on YouTube, no like 3 minute intro telling us to like and subscribe and like this fake giveaway or something, just straight to the point and conveys the steps and other things clearly. We truly need more people like this on YouTube, and I am glad I subscribed a while ago

FUN FACT: YOU CAN ALSO DO THIS TO YOUR ROUTER, IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY SLOWED INTERNET SPEED, IT WILL CLEAR THE CACHE IN YOUR ROUTER AS WELL AND MAKE YOUR WIFI FASTER.

I also do the method of holding the button for another flash, use a USB cable for the PS5 controller, find clear cache and that too can work too.

I won't pile on here, but all you need to do is shut down the system and then boot back up back holding the power button for two beaps (about 7-10sec) - system will start in safe mode and you can clear cache (something I've had to do a number of times to get Outriders to boot :/ ) or rebuild your database. No fuss no muss, just be aware that you'll be turning off bluetooth in safe mode so you'll need to direct connect your controller via one of the front ports.

Been doing this every day since I got the console last year. Great to see this come up.

It is not really unknown as to why. Its RAM Cache. Basically it is the primary memory source for quickly accessing data. If you wanted to go a step further it is generally recommended to:
1. Completely shut down the console/ device.
2. Unplug all direct power sources from the console/ device.
3. Press and hold the power button as if you were turning on the console/device for up to 5 seconds.

This is attempting to completely remove any residual charge the capacitors are holding, and further removing any residual "power" from the system.

When doing this it clears the stored data cached in the RAM (random access memory).

After performing the steps above you are able to go ahead and plug the console/device back in and resume regular use.

Now to explain cache and why it is important.

In most situations you actually want things cached which is why you will not want to perform this method everyday or too frequently. The reason being is it is the fastest memory retrieval process for your device/ console. Instead of having to read through all the memory stored on your hard drive, at a snails pace, you are instead reading just the vital temporarily stored information in your RAM at a much faster pace.

The reason clearing your cache will give you the perception of a "speed up" is due to the fact that your RAM will become "cluttered". Once your RAM is full
you are seeing the effects immediately, similarly to when your hard drive becomes full and it takes longer for anything to load. Making space on your storage/ memory brings the life back in a sense.

TLDR; RAM/ Cache is a temporary faster storage device/File to your hard drive and helps make things load quicker until it is full in which case perform the steps above, not too frequently.

I used to do this to my Xbox One but then realised
You can hold the power button for 7 seconds it shut down and clears the cache.
It's not a secret on consoles it's the first thing you do to fix a problem

Just a FYI, idk if anyone has had this issue but if you have a movie in and you close the app after you watch it the disc will not eject. Also happens if you delete the game out of your storage while its still in the PS5. For example: I played GOW and after I beat it before I ejected the game I deleted it out of storage and after I did I went to eject the disc and the PS5 beeped like there wasn't a disc in the system. I had to unplug the PS5 for 20 minutes and then eject the disc while it was on the home screen and it finally came out.
