Spring Topwater Tricks To Get Topwater Strikes Right Now!

Показать описание
Bass eat topwater baits long before most fisherman consider using them. If you’re waiting for hot weather you’re missing one of the best topwater bites of the year! You need to start now because most of the giant bass that get caught on topwater are caught early in the season. Of course, you’ll need to adapt your technique a bit to account for the cooler conditions, but that’s what we’re here for.

Consistent topwater action during the cool spring months requires patience. You’ll need to fish slower than you’re used to, and you’ll be targeting a smaller percentage of fish than you would be in Summer. However, that smaller segment includes a lot of the biggest bass in the lake. This bite has a lot more to do with cadence and speed of retrieve than it does water temperature. Don’t get hung up on a certain water temperature, instead, be cognizant that if you’ve been able to wear a T-shirt in the afternoon in the past week or two, the topwater bite has potential. These fish are sitting extremely shallow so they’re able to find warm water pockets, even when the main lake remains cool.

Again, the key is speed. Focus on baits that cover a lot of water (side to side) while moving slowly toward the boat. Walking baits, poppers, and frogs, are all great options. Additionally, baits like a buzz bait (with some adaptations) and a whopper plopper are also great options. Below you’ll find links to the EXACT baits that we use from each category, including our favorite colors for each model. The scum frog 🐸 is also a 3/4 oz bait which helps with long cast and also makes a bigger impression on grass mats! Just a lil extra for yall! Tim and Matt really do give us all great bait options and info!

I’m 45 and I’ve fished my whole life. And done ok and had a great time doing it but my brother recommended you guys to me and I’ve easily learned so much more about bass fishing and new techniques to try watching your videos. Can’t wait to get out on the water and implement them.

As per usual, amazing information Tim! You and Matt always do an excellent job on explaining the finer details. Even though I know a lot of the things you all talk about I still love to listen to you all and always try to learn something knew. I appreciate the time and effort you both put into this and appreciate what you all do for the community. Awesome channel and even better guys! Keep it up!

I put swivels and heavier o-rings on all my Plopper style lures after seeing your video on ploppers last year. What a great tip.

Getting me all excited for topwater time! I went back and watched the old Bully Wa and Spitting Wa edits. Nothing better than frog fishing. Seeing you guys set the hook that close to each other on the front deck cracks me up. You guys hold nothing back and the other better move of he’s getting cracked!! GOOD! 🙌🏻

That blowup on the Plopper at the beginning never gets old. Looks so cool how the water disperses like that.

I never used to be into top water fishing, until my buddy told me how much he enjoyed it. I throw poppers here and there, but I bought a Berkley Choppo and let me say that was the absolute most insane bite I've ever got in my life lol

I caught a 5 pound largemouth on a perch colored popper a few years ago. Its still the biggest bass I've caught. I've also caught a bunch of 2-3 pounders on poppers as well. Its my go to bait. No matter what I always have one tied on.

Duuude. I just watched this video yesterday. Have not been throwing top water at all. I'm in Phoenix and you mentioned the warmer temp will bring on a good top water bite in the spring. I went out today and got 2 on a plopper. Also Had 2 more that fell off but over all great day. Thanks so much for putting the thought in my head.
