Pilot here. 10/10 for technique. Waiting for the engines to spool up before releasing the brakes was fantastic. The immediate gear retraction was your best bet.

I was on that flight, row 16, left window. I saw a guy on the ground in the house with the aquamarine roof, giving his yak a bath as we passed by. No meal, just a snack.

Something that big MIGHT be able to take off from Lukla. But it would have to be assembled there, because I guarantee you it would not be able to land.

Irl only stol planes and helicopters can land and take off from Lukla airport. Regular size planes need at least 5, 900 feet to land safely. Lukla’s runway is 1, 729 feet.

Я бы закрылки и оперение во взлетное положение поставил в процессе разбега, так лишние кимлометро 60-70 в скорости можно попробовать выграть.
Шасси сразу поставить на уборку и они сразу начнут убиратся как оторвешся.

Два раза был в Лукле. Один раз от туда улетал. Во второй раз прилетал из Катманду.
Аэродром работает по состоянию погоды. Должна быть прямая видимость.
Обычно в первой половине дня ясно, но после обеда чаще всего небо затягивает облаками и самолеты не летают.
Прикольное место, мне понравилось )))

It's dangerous for those Avianca passengers too. All that back pain from those hard seats that they have and knee pain from the minimal leg room they offer.

Hilarious, but we all know the airport's 527m paved asphalt runway is accessible only to helicopters and small, fixed-wing, short-takeoff-and-landing aircraft such as the De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, Dornier 228, L-410 Turbojet and Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter.
