I am one of the first owners of the Lexus IS300h. It's actually a very fair review. A few corrections on the comments.

1. You can't say the gearbox is poor or the gear change is slow because in the hybrid there is no such thing.

2. You can't say the (new) "IS F" is "ugly" because there's no such thing. The "IS F" is the older (second generation) IS; this review concerns the newer (third generation) IS which as yet has no F variant. (There is an "F-sport" trim, but that is a different thing).

Japanese cars have always had crazy interior designs which are gorgeous to sit in, German interiors are simple and professional and British is a bit terrible 😔 Rebecca will never say any car is faultless cause none match her CL500

100% down to the gear ratios. The auto will keep the car around 1500 RPM just like the CVT at cruising speed. I know it stops when you stop accelerating, but for the marginal increase in fuel economy and performance (so small you will not notice) it is not worth ruining the fun and sound the car makes during accelerations you will do hundreds of times in every trip, at least for me and the 36 thumbs up I got.

They're still around, but less and less car makes are using them.

Do you want to hear noise but you want it to respond to your thrusts? Or do you want dead silence?

Most of the recent cars with CVT are much quieter than you describe.

I think this IS300h or some other Lexus car has (fake) noise simulator to make the car sound more sporty in sports mode and sound like a real auto (non CVT) gearbox.

I prefer a quiet ride.
