Показать описание
Harvard Applied Math 205 is a graduate-level course on scientific computing and numerical methods. The previous two videos in this series introduced the fixed-point and Newton methods for finding roots of scalar nonlinear equations. This video looks at generalizing these two methods to systems of nonlinear equations.

I was looking through your channel and it wasn't until this video that I fell in love with your channel. It was because of your nail polish <3

Very interesting series of videos, thank you very much for publishing those for free.
Could one use Levenberg-Marquart to solve for a multivariate root ? Thanks

Hello Chris your lecture is really great! I have a question about newton’s method: will it diverge at some points with gradient smaller than one? E.g. in Hyperbolic tangent functions, y=tanh (x) starting at x=4?
