3DS MAX 2020 - WORST RELEASE EVER - REACTION, RANT AND REVIEW + (ROADMAP)

I know a couple of people will silently say it has come alongway, I do respect your opinions but 3dsmax 2020 new release is by far one of the most disappointing released product in a very long while.
Similar to what was issued out by the Maya 2019 team, Autodesk seems to be paying no attention to what artists really need as much.

In this video I will give my take on this released tool, what I think and then discuss about the future roadmap for 3DSMax 2020.

autodesk doesn't deprecate obsolete functionalities. They deprecate an entire product.

If you ever come across someone defending SaaS crap just link them the 3DS Max 2020 features video and call it a day. This is what happens when you achieve indefinite vendor lock in by removing the ability to own software. You cut back to the point where yearly major releases feel like a minor feature patch from 2006. What is the client going to do? They're likely locked into the software in their pipeline and unlikely to switch DCC entirely so there you go, the suckers keep paying forever or else they lose it all.

Back when perpetual licenses existed the companies actually had to put out a quality product with worthwhile new features every year to entice people into paying for the upgrade.

One word - Houdini, switch to it and never look back! Autodesk was the worst could have happen to 3ds max and maya. They litteraly do not care about them. Everything is just flipcharts and % for them, same as Adobe.

I ditched 3Ds max after 10 years for Blender 2.8. I didn’t know a 3D software can be so fast and thoughtfully designed :O

What can we expect from Autodesk after killing one of the best software of all time, Softimage?

Is the problem solved, where 2dsMax rendering took gradually longer to render the further rendering went? First image was like 10min and next day it took like 25min to render similar frame and if you restart the rendering, color accuracy changes dramatically. I know there was a tool / setting / workaround for this, but does software still have these horrific problems?

Seeing how Blender or other apps are improving with a single digit versions, Autodesk need to get their shit together before they loose 1st place of commercial standard software.

Repeated issues where it stops loading at the splash screen. Went through all support options until they just stopped answering.

I’ve heard good things about the combo C4D+Houdini, used by a lot of great 3d artists and studios like MVSM and Zeitguised: what do you guys think?

Side fx releases 17 and 17.5 with amazing features but autodesk releases viewport improvements and they call it a major release/update smh

Meanwhile Houdini creating big steps with each release.
Definitely going to be the next big thing across multiple industries.

Blender 2.8 + HardOps + BoxCutter= Around 40 bucks and still better than Max. Plugins Mostly for Hard edge modelling but darn useful

I stopped using 3dsmax when I bought a 4K monitor and they tried to sell me another version to get 4K support... like 3 years after 4k became a casual thing. They release a bunch of stuff each release that should be plugins added for the price. I guess they have their market though.

I took the 3dsMax course offered by 3DTI, and I actually taught it online for about 10 months....back in 2009.
But I haven't touched it in years.
1) Has it really gotten that bad?
2) Is Blender really that good?
I always wanted to get into I'm guessing there are alternatives.
Again, it's been years since I'd messed with any of these programs....so I'm not really up-to-date.
Thanks!

3:06 the technically correct terms are:
1. chamfer is a straight angled edge between two faces
2. fillet is a rounded surface between two faces

a bevel is basically the same as a chamfer
