In 1950, Douglas received his first Academy Award nomination for Champion. He was nominated again in 1953 for The Bad and the Beautiful, and was even nominated a third time in 1957 with Lust for Life, in which he played painter Vincent van Gogh. It was in 1996 that he was rightly awarded an honorary Oscar for fifty years as a creative and moral force within the motion picture community.

Douglas was known on and off-screen for his sometimes overpowering bravado, but he was mostly known as a man of heartfelt conviction. He hired blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo to write the 1960 epic Spartacus. The movie was directed by Stanley Kubrick and Douglas executive produced and starred in the project.

Between his two wives, Anne and Diana, Kirk Douglas had four children, all boys. Michael, Joel, Peter and Eric. Of the four, it is Michael who has lived up to the same acclaim as his father, having followed in his Hollywood footsteps. Michael Douglas, an acclaimed actor in his own right, has starred in such films as Wall Street, Basic Instinct, The Game, and more recently, he joined the beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dr. Hank Pym, featured in both the Ant-Man movies, and Avengers: Endgame.

On February 5th, 2020, the beloved superstar Kirk Douglas passed away at the age of 103.

Join us as we celebrate the life of this Hollywood legend and also take a look at the tragic deaths of his two wives, Anne and Diana.

Kirks the main man, father of the son Michael, they are both legends, both have incredible careers in the film 🎥 industry.
But Kirk in Spartacus and in cowboy films 🎥 are legendary films 🎥 you’ll never see Michael on horseback in these types of films 🎥
RIP Kirk 🙏

I went to go see tough guys in the movie theater when I was 13 years old. He was really charismatic and fantastic in that movie. I've been a fan ever since.

I don't see this as a tragedy.. Kirk enjoyed a very long wonderful life with 2 great wives and 4 great sons...
We should all be so fortunate..
He was a great actor and coming from a very poor childhood isn't anything to be ashamed of...for anyone...I am a huge fan of both Kurt and Michael but I don't think we should feel bad for Kurt..he lived a wonderful life ..
God bless Kurt
I just hope he wasn't involved with the dark side of Hollywood that we are now becoming made aware of..

Kirk Douglas is the greatest. He didn't have an inside to Hollywood. Where Michael had a way to get noticed. Much like the rest of Hollywood kids
