Stephen Dura is an English pianist, organist, music teacher and composer. Many of his pieces are designed for young players, and he writes in a range of styles, including jazz. The waltz is a dance for couples in triple time, which has been popular ever since the 18th century. On the second and third crotchets of this Waltz, the left hand often has the characteristic repeated notes of the dance, whereas the right hand often has the more melodious dotted-crotchet rhythms.

TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
ABRSM’s recommended tempo for this piece is 126 bpm and a nice smooth and relaxed feel is required. Look out for the momentary slowing down (rit.) in bar 16, then back to ‘a tempo’ (original tempo) in bar 17. There is a final slowing down at bar 29 (rall. al fine) along with a gradual diminuendo / decrescendo until the final bar. Watch out for the paused chord at the end!

Hi!! I know this is a bit late but I wanted to thank you so much because these videos have all gotten me at least a merit on every piece I did for my grade 2 exam!!
I chose:
A1 Ecossaise in G- 29/30
B2 Forget-me-not waltz 25/30
C1 Railroad blues 26/30
(Fourth piece) Extra: Inter city stomp 28/ 30
Performance: 27/30
In total I got a distinction with 135/150
