Metroid Dread was announced during the Nintendo Direct E3 2021 presentation, and is a brand new 2D Metroid coming to the Switch in 2021. Since it's announcement, there has been a lot of debate over the price point of this new Nintendo Switch game being $60, and we are going to try and figure out why.

This has been a BIG debate online so I figured we would break it down! Are YOU buying Metroid Dread? Did you buy 2 copies like me? Lemme know!

Ask the Metroid fans who have been waiting 350 years for a new game if we are bothered about paying 60

I suppose that the 60.00 price is a “calculation” on Nintendo’s part. They may figure that no matter the price, the majority of the sales will go to fans of the series, and that they won’t care that it’s 60 bucks. And in the case of this fan of the series, they are right! They can shut up and take my money 😂

I paid $50 for Super Metroid back in 1994. So when you adjust for inflation Metroid Dread is actually cheaper. Now I rarely if ever buy games for full retail. But as a fan who has bought every metroid game since the original NES game I will be buying this game day one.

Been waiting 19 years, I don't give a flip how much it costs.

People are out here willing to pay 60 for a wii port but not this 😭 if it’s a new game I think it’s worth 60.

2D/3D isn’t a debate for price. Remember people have spent 60 dollars on the avengers game and cyberpunk 2077. Who actually cares if it’s 2D

With a game as amazing as Hollow Knight for $15, it's hard to pay $60 for any games.

I'm a Metroid fan, but charging £50 for this when something like Hollow Knight was less than £20, is a little ridiculous. And I'll be amazed if Dread is anywhere near as good as Hollow Knight.

I can’t imagine Nintendo has forecasted this game to sell more than 1 million copies — xenoblade is another niche franchise for Nintendo and xenoblade 2 was considered a success after 1.3 million copies sold. I’m a huge Metroid fan so this game is dream come true for me but you’re right, I don’t think it’ll sell 3-5 million copies, but nor do I think it needs to

As a big Metroid fan, the price point is good for me. I don't know how big the whole game will be but it should provide a nice fulfilling adventure and if there is replay value it will make it even better.

2D Metroid games are some of my favorites so I'm happy to spend $60 on Metroid Dread. I totally understand that other people may not value it the same way, but Nintendo also sold Kirby Star Allies for $60 which was a 2D game that seemed to lack content. I know the audiences are different, but if people were willing to spend $60 for Kirby Star Allies I hope they'll also be willing to spend $60 for Metroid Dread.

I always have a lot to say about this topic, but I'll everything up in one sentence:

No person who has ever played a Metroid game will ever think it's not worth the full cost of a triple A title.

It's Metroid, the price doesn't matter!

I'd rather pay $60 for Metroid Dread than for Skyward Sword, which is a game that originally released 10 years ago.

100% worth $60.00 it’s a classic character and the game series is amazing

Idk why people are even asking if this is 60$ its a new game and not remake. They actually went out of there to bring this game back form years ago. And people saying it's not worth 60$ or even making videos of stupid topic. Should look into playing over games or choose other career paths.

Worth it unless you want "another" open world rpg with way to slow levelling up and pretty much useless perks.

12 minute video to say 'lol maybe it's worth it idk'

"if this was an indie game without Samus, it would certainly be $20 or so"... yes... and if my Grandma had wheels, she would be a motorcycle.
