A free update lands in Metroid Dread!

In the brutal Dread Mode difficulty, all it takes is one hit to cause a game over. Are you ready for the challenge?

For players new to the series, Rookie Mode allows for increased recovery and less damage from bosses. The free update is available now!

Additionally, look forward to a second free update arriving in April, which will add Boss Rush mode, where you can take on bosses continuously, one at a time until you’re defeated!

I love that Metroid Dread is getting a content update, even if it's small! The fact that Dread gets additional content makes me hopeful for Prime 4 when it comes out in a year or 2.

This is great and all, but when can we play through the entire game with the Metroid suit? Doesn't even need the hyper beam, as hilarious and game-breaking as that would be. Just make it an aesthetic thing.

Oh cool they added Journalist mode to the game. That's pretty nice of them.

I actually think Rookie Mode is a good idea. Playing Half Life has given me an appreciation for easy modes since when you suck at a genre but want to get into it, you need a crutch at the start.

I’ve never played Metroid and this difficulty seems super hard, so if I ever play this game, I’ll be sure to use the new difficulty that’ll help me out, thanks for adding Dread Mode :)

Beaten Dread twice and the rookie mode sounds like a fun breeze through especially if you want to play as much of the game as possible but have little time for it.

While the update itself is a little underwhelming, the fact that it's getting a content update AT ALL is great news, and I look forward to the boss rush.
Also as a side note, please bring back the option to toggle abilities, or maybe even a debug mode like Fusion. It would be really cool to fight bosses with less equipment or to experiment with different beam combinations

i thought they were done with dread, so to see that they added two new difficulties AND the fact that we're getting a boss rush later is awesome

if they want to go above and beyond, id love to see a mode where you start with all upgrades

Rookie mode, it’s a smart move by Nintendo to make this game more inviting for newcomers to the series/genre as a whole.

Dread is my first metroid game and now I'm a fan and I'm currently playing zero mission, super, and fusion! Can't wait to try the new dread mode and die multiple times!
