Audi A8: Facelifted and fabulous

There was a time, not so long ago, that if you wanted to buy a luxury limousine, you went out and bought a Mercedes S-Class. Yes, the odd buyer might dare to be different and plump for a BMW 7 Series or Jaguar XJ instead, but by and large, the big Merc was the default choice. Why? Well because it was the best choice.

Fast forward to the present day, and the S-Class is still a brilliant thing, but it no longer has the dominance it once did. Fabulous rivals like the Audi A8 have closed the gap to virtually nothing, and thanks to a number of tweaks brought about by the recent facelift, the gap has just been made even smaller.

In this CarGurus UK review, Vicky Parrott travels to Norway to have a go in the new facelifted A8 and get a handle on all the clever technology on board, as well as experiencing its quality, comfort and practicality.

The original S8 was made famous by the movie "Ronin" in which it had its chance to show off its capabilities and sheer Teutonic beauty. If you want to have some fun, stream the flick. With Robert De Niro and Jean Reno, it was a pretty good heist movie dispite having no moral compass whatsoever. The chase scenes were thrilling. Anywho, another great video and the location was surreal. I know that area!

Audi’s build quality is better than Mercedes now ! I was always a Mercedes guy but since 2015 I moved to Audi and can’t see me going back

Audi said they were bringing back the W12 one last time for this generation. But it’s been 4 years and there was only a pre production model.

I still don’t get why Audi still uses a gear selector, move to buttons already and update the cabin/cockpit.

About 50 or so examples of the V8 are earmarked for Australia along with a lower spec petrol . A diesel may or may not also remain in the new variant due here in early 2022.
