I heard the devs told us that, when we play against other players is a training for the operators and when we play T. hunt, thats the real operation. I am not 100% sure about that, but thats a good explanation.

Abandoned shack, no soul in at least of a five mile radius... and you only ever meet yourself, your teammates, and an "opposing force" made of your teammates. That resets every single time the round is done.

I got cult-ish vibes from this map (especially the older version of the map), similar to that of Oregon, which kind of explains why there is an "initiation room." A fanatical group turned an abandoned building in an amusement park into a drug den. They moved onto biological weapons as leverage, and once they caught word their operation was about to be disrupted by SWAT forces, they armed their own devices.

I have always seen it as a training course for the operators like that one event had it like. It would explain why it's an abandoned building and the gas is a tool to stimulate the gas threat in the tutorial.

Adds flavour when playing or at least for me.

the whole act of Rainbow Six Siege is basically the simulation of competition between professionals, where the elites of elites sparring each other to further specialize and pushing each other further in order to stay ahead of the terrorist forces that are almost inferior to them. Sure they shoot guns and have the numbers, but the operators that have been included in the Rainbow Six program aren't just experienced and very good at what they do, they had experience facing off literal elite of elite of elite units of different divisions that pushes them to even further reinforce/innovate what they're good at but also cover any weakness the might have and making the impossible possible.
Or in short: literal paintball matches
