The inspiration for Montagne was about some dude in real life who took a grenade AND a shotgun blast to the chest and kept charging during an operation

It’s not hard to guess what roc means.
So, to break this down, if we translated everything to English, he is called mountain & has a shield called the rock.

That shield is older than a good amount of the other operators if he’s been using it for 30+ years. The only piece of equipment I can think of that could be older than Monty’s shield is Tachanka’s grenade launcher, since I’m pretty sure that thing’s from ww2 like his lmg
