I have to be honest, I hate seeing a monty on my team. Not because they are bad or anything its becuase I always end up tking by accident

A tip for montagne mains, swap to blitz for a few games and learn to be agressive with sheilds if you arent used to it, just remember when switching back to monty that if you run it will put your sheild at your side.

Montagne main here and I am so happy someone else is spreading the good word. If you're the last man on the team, you retract the shield, and it stays retracted. Only time that shield goes back up is if the bomb is planted and there's one enemy. Two enemies? Then that shield stays retracted. That all's really just a general rule. Under different circumstances it makes sense to do different things with the shield, even things that might not sound right without context. You just have to keep playing Monty to figure what circumstances deserve which strategies.

If you're picking Monty, these things you need to know -
1.) Have map control
2.) Apply pressure from two different angles, one from your teammate and another from you
3.) Communicate with your team
4.) Always be on the aggressive, stop sitting around and move

One issue I always encounter is at any time, when I drop my shield to pop someone, I end up getting headshot by the jackass

As an Oryx main here’s a tip. If you see an Oryx, do NOT lift your shield up. Sure it may give you defense to any surrounding operators but it just makes you a sitting duck to Oryx. The Oryx can just tackle you and kill you, instead. Pretend like he is an actual bull, if he charges try to side step him and melee, if he charges at short range hip fire and pray you get the shot on him.

I actually mained Monty for like two weeks since I was wanting to try him out after getting battlepass skins, and I wanted to try making a compilation too and I was already playing him. While playing him I learned quite a few things about how to actually use him.
1. You have a big ass shield for a reason. Guard your team, push forward, take ground, and scare off any enemies that don’t have c4, gas grenades, or flaming grenade launchers.
2. A pistol is a lot deadlier than people think. If you have a fast enough trigger finger, you can put people down with the P9 pretty quickly.
3. Play some mind games with the enemies. If you get their attention split between you and another teammate, you can keep putting your shield up and down to try and get them to look away. If they won’t commit to you, that’ll allow you to get an opening to kill them yourself.

One more monty tip form me would be when your teamate wants to swing a guy right before he does unextend the shield this will make the defender choose one and die to the other

Me and my Dad made a strat on the Sixth invitational map from forever ago of Monty and Zofia. At the start of the round Monty is just there to block bullets while m Zofia peaks around the edge. Once we clear that first area Zofia fires her stuns into the obj and Monty gets in and gets a kill maybe or becomes a living camera if there's multiple people in other room or just still in the room. Zofia follows pings and just goes off kill wise.

Monty is best when his team uses him as a distraction or plays off of him. I find that he teams well with Glaz, popping smokes.

I am a Monty main, and this is true being aggressive as much as you can and maintaining defense is all possible spam shield up confuses people and has you a chance to shoot but can be countered with your right side as it exposes when you unshield n shield

This topic needs a whole 10 mins video tutorial at least... I used to play with a team that had a Monti main, but actually... With around 2000h only Monti. What's said in this video is one of the little fundamentals

On top of knowing when to be aggressive, awhile ago someone said "when you are a Monty player, you face 2 types of people. The one who runs and the one who fights." It's all about reading people...and standing there...menacingly
