"My leg was surgically removed and I deal with pain and discomfort on a regular basis"
"Probably just your period lol"

Either periods or being “anxious.” Like hey doc I’ve lived with anxiety my entire life I know the difference between anxiety and “wtf is this awful painful sensation”

I'm male and have a kidney transplant. In the period right after the transplant everyone has to go into the transplant clinic very frequently, twice a week, so you get to know "your crew." Long story short a woman about my age was getting progressively worse, it was very obvious, and we were talking one day and she described symptoms I'd had much earlier in my recovery. I'd told my doc and she'd adjusted my medication regime and it cleared up and I was fine. She had a different doctor and she was basically told that her body needed to adjust etc. We compared our med list and we were on the same meds, except for precise dosages. I suggested to her and her now very angry husband that maybe they should "ask" to see a different doctor. Within a week she was gaining weight and her color was back to normal.

I truly have no idea how some doctors get and keep their licenses.

Had a doctor try this once. I said “thanks for letting me know you haven’t taken the slightest glance at my medical records, seeing as I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago.” I told him I wouldn’t be paying for the visit either, as any advice I was about to pay for would easily amount to malpractice since he failed to even take/review my medical history, or perform any kind of physical exam. This BS is why I record ALL interactions in a doctors’ office.

I remember I was suffering with really bad stomach aches and had to keep going to the doctor. Like I was in pain, going to the bathroom every ten minutes and vomiting every once in a while. All I got was. "You might just be starting your period soon." And guess what.
It wasn't period cramps, I was lactose intolerant and was having bad reactions to dairy and the doctors just dismissed me. Whats worse was that the doctors were all WOMEN. They should have known that that was period cramps

Facts!!! I had a friend who went into the e.r. With a pain in her side, the doctor said it was period pain and was getting ready to discharge her. Her bf recorded the incident thank god because 10 minutes later she screamed, like blood curdling scream, in pain and nurses had to rush to her because the pain made her puke and pass out...she was laying on her back and they had to roll her to her side to help her breathe then take her for scans and then instant surgery. Her apendix broke, and she almost died because of the doctor's neglect because she was actually on her period. They took him to court for malpractice and got a pretty penny that paid for a down payment to their house and a wedding for the bf and her. 3 years later, she is pregnant with baby #1

"Young ladies such as yourself will often find their concerns dismissed by health professionals. I am here to assure you I won't do such a thing, because my job is to listen to every single one of your concerns and treat you with the dignity you deserve."

That's the only acceptable ending to that sentence.

"Young ladies such as yourself usually don't get their superpowers this late, but it's not unheard of. Probably got delayed because of your irregular menstrual cycle..."

I've never in my life understood why blaming your period is an acceptable excuse anyways because periods can also cause debilitating symptoms that should be taken seriously as a medical condition, instead of just being like "oh, you have a uterus? Sucks to suck, sufffeeerrrr." 😂... ugh

I was pleasantly surprised when a very old male family medicine doctor said:

"Young ladies such as yourself have so many possibilities nowadays. So go out there and don't let anybody tell you what to do with your life. You're young and unbound, and I'm sure you can be sucessfull in [home country], [country I was moving to] or any other country."

(I was getting my vaccines for studying abroad)

One time I had an inner ear infection it was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced. I had lost most of my hearing ability by the time I reached the hospital. The doctor asked if I needed medicine for the pain. I obviously said YES!
The doctor returns 10 minutes later and gives me 1 single pill for pain. Then when I left the hospital the pain immediately returned even worse. Apparently the only reason I wasnt even offered a prescription for pain medicine was because the hospital automaticaly assumes everyone under 21 with a nonvisual injury is just trying to get opiates.
So everyone under 21 has to beg the doctors nonstop to get even 1 pill for pain. If you are not expressing nonstop how much you are suffering then you will not get anything for pain.

This is how the USA has chosen to fight opiate addiction. Rather than help the people who have become addicted to the pills, they cut everyone off from them.

"Hi doc, all my bones hurt, and my ribs feel like they're constricting my breathing!"
"Ah yes, female hormones doing female hormone things."

Even if it is related, that doesn't automatically make it normal, desirable, or untreatable.

I'm sending this to my friend who ended up in the ER because multiple doctors blamed her pain on periods

My favorite thing about not getting periods is being able to tell doctors I don’t get my period. They never know what to do with me after that

The worst doctor I've spoken to seemed to think I was asking him to check a sore lump in my breast for my own perverted enjoyment. His diagnosis after poking it was that the thing next to my nipple was a sore muscle. Made me feel very much like a stupid idiot for even asking.

It was an abcess.
