Don't know how he was standing but the surgeon who spent 5.5 hours putting my leg back together has my eternal thanks.

My surgeons stood for eight hours during my double mastectomy and partial reconstruction. I’m 9 years cancer free thanks to them and my oncologist . 🙏❤

He is standing like this so he won't need an orthopedic surgeon himself 😅

He’s standing in these different positions so he can become more comfortable during long surgeries. It’s gotta be brutal.

I am a orthopaedic nurse and I 💯 bet that's a orthopaedic surgeon, It takes a lot to break bones, re-arrange them, apply plates and pins.

After having a 13 hour surgery, I completely have newfound appreciation for surgeons, anesthesiologists and all who save lives in these little rooms.

Surgeons are badass is right. A 28 year old girl who looked like a movie star did an 8 hour surgery on me that saved me a scar from stem to sternum, laproscopically, when she was still a resident. She's a badass

When they stand with their legs spread apart like in the video above, it is to literally take pressure off of their neck, back, spine. Because otherwise they're bending over for hours and YES, IT IS BRUTAL!!!

I am a renal transplant recipient. The surgery lasted for 4hrs. I never thought how hard the job was. Respect to medical professionals.

The fact surgeries can EASILY and FREQUENTLY do go over 5 hours is AMAZING. I can’t even express how much respect I have for these people. I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like.

Can you imagine standing on one place continuously hunched over no breaks, nothing. Yes they are super heroes. As a nurse I totally respect them and the entire operating team.

There were a great many doctors, nurses, and surgical staff that saved my Dad's arm when a pit bull nearly took it off. My Dad was 80 years young, and the doctor, after 12 hours announced positive results, including that my Dad was wiggling his fingers. He thought my Dad was going on 70 and dropped to his knees and cried when he realized what a blessing and miracle he was gifted to perform.

My daughter had open heart surgery at 6mo and we went through PLENTY of surgeons before we decided on hers. He was basically a robot but lit up when he was telling us the only time he truly feels at peace is during surgery. I’d like to see how he was standing but couldn’t bare to see it myself. Longest three hours of my life and I couldn’t be more happy with Dr. Hammel ❤️❤️
