He’s not just a d-1 wrestler. He’s literally a legend. Jason Nolf was the man. 3x ncaa champ. He’ll get the jiu jitsu part eventually. Good stuff tho.

As a wrestler we don't do submissions its not apart of our sport. Try getting a Jujitsu player to wrestle using our rules. He would fail

Just remember guys.. this isnt just BJJ vs Wrestling. Both of the individuals are world class athletes.

As a wrestler there are so many things that are unnatural when you get into a BJJ match. Protecting against chokes and joint locks are not even a thought. But once wrestlers are taught these things, they can become quite dangerous in BJJ.

Incorporate striking into the mix, and wrestling techniques/body control tend to lend itself to ground and pound much better than BJJ.

Wrestling is very complimentary for Jiu-jitsu. I think Jiu-jitsu people should learn wrestling and vice versa wrestlers should learn Jiu-jitsu. A Jiu-jitsu person who learns wrestling will get better at doing takedowns and will develop better takedown defense. A wrestler who learns Jiu-jitsu will get good at submissions. Both can benefit from each other.

Wrestlers fail at not wrestling yeah, but who is in control of the match the entire time? I've seen a few times online and in person and it's pretty clear the wrestler outperforms in grappling up to when their win condition is met. Nothing against bjj aside from the usual butt scooting we see, but it's immensly silly to say it's the better grappling practition when their end goals are different and muscle memory almost doesn't allow wrestlers to do bjj moves without training

On the street, the wrestler wins everytime because when they hit the ground it’s good night..opponent isn’t fit to do leg locks

Yeap totally agree. Just like Kickboxing has added lowkicks and knees after loosing to Muay Thai guy. Wrestling should add submission to enhance their skills.

You’re absolutely right bro. I’ve had the pleasure of training with some high-level wrestlers. They can’t submit you, but they can make your life miserable for eight minutes. A lot of fun but a lot of pain. 😂

In fairness….a pin should be allowed to win also as a “virtual” submission. (My rules :) )

Wrestling was half of the pankration art the Greeks invented for war. The purpose was to get your opponents down and control them so you could strike them to death or stab them with spear, sword or sheild.

Hence why in mma it's coming out as the preferred grappling system, however judo archives the same so just as good.

Lol Nolf literally trained jiu jitsu for 2 weeks before CJI

Add strikes and a wrestlers ability to get on top is the ultimate equalizer.

Ruotolo's wrestling was extremely impressive in that match

The fact that the wrestler could hang for as long as he did with a world champion says a lot

A wrestlers best weapon against bjj is the insane cardio paired with pressure, sure some wrestlers are really strong but you learn quick not to blow your load on every move so you never truly see how strong a stake is unless your about to get pinned or down by 2 with a minute left

I feel like wrestlers need to remember their roots and go back to catch wrestling. Imo

The wrestler with 2 weeks of BJJ would be unstoppable for most BJJ students. His defense and ability to maintain control was flawless.

When u hand cuff the wrestlers w/moves not allowed, then it's the rules that fail. Not the wrestler. A wrestler can break arms & legs but u don't allow it. So once his opponent is pinned the game is over!! U change the rules! It's u that determine the winner. Submission has to work both ways. Stop being ignorant.
