The 2022 Olympics was so heartbreaking. I remember crying while watching.

To be a little more precise, evgenia actually broke the world record for the short program segment, not the free skate and ended up losing by 1.31 point after zagitova broke evegenia's record in the short program later that evening.

the people who call these girls "entitled" and "selfish" seriously do not have empathy or real human emotions. these girls go through literal hell every damn day, season after season.

Honestly feel bad for Anna, feeling empty when you won gold has got to be one of the worst feelings.

i feel so bad for alexandra trusova.. i saw the video of her crying and it was so sad.. she was questioning what all of this is for ... they keep giving her impossible routines that risk her safety yet she never places gold... I would've crumbled too

I feel bad for these girls because they're always under so much pressure at such a young age. It makes me realize how lucky I am to not be in a situation like that as a figure skater in Canada

Every year just gets worse than the previous. I don't wanna know what's happening in 2026

I love figure skating so much but I also hate how corrupt it is. Every sport has its own corruption but figure skate is on another level.
Yuzuru Hanyu did a project involving AI that judges athletes using camera footage(i think?) for his university degree and that shows that the athletes themselves know but can't really do much.

The pressure and stress that was on those young girls is heartbreaking, and it’s all competitive figure skaters.

this made me so sad. All of them were under so much pressure.

I love Sasha so much, and it was heartbreaking to watch that she was in 2nd place WHEN SHE MADE HISTORY.

Please. Evgenia was using that same hack (doing all of her jumps in the second half of her program) to maximize her score in her short program. 😂

Anna was 2 time world champion and 3 times Russian champion, so she definitely wasn’t a dark horse.

The 2022 Olympics were just so sad to watch. Especially since Sasha didn't even wanted to cry on live television but just wanted to go somewhere to be alone but wasn't allowed

Look im just gonna say it they are under so much pressure and they do work hard for this i believe they had every right to be upset they shouldn't have filmed it like they did id cry too if i spent so much of my life working under that kind of pressure. I don't think its right for people who dont do this to judge them at all 😅

I stopped watching figure skating competitions after 2014 Sochi Olympics. It proved how rigged the scoring was. Kim Yuna and Asada Mao were leagues better than the gold medalist.

Figure Skating is a beautiful sport and yet a lot of these skaters all end up so sad and broken. Its sad to see and hear from people who probably started doing something because they like it but ends up hating it and breaking them down.

Its heartbreaking to see someone be so proud of overcoming something only to loose. Its heartbreaking to hear that despite accomplishing amazing things, you question why you did it in the 1st place. Its heartbreaking to see someone winning when you feel everyone had lost hope.

These beautiful skaters had lost their shine and their genuine smiles, and its heartbreaking and painful to witness.

Let’s not forget that Alina won by winning the short program. Was her winning short program backloaded? Yes, and so was Zhenya’s short program and interestingly, Kaori’s short as well. She won the short (and thus the overall gold) with a more difficult triple triple in the short than Zhenya’s-a higher base value even against a competitor who also backloaded her short, and admitted recently that she also wanted to fully backload her free, but was held back by her coaches. If she could have physically pulled it off, she not only would have, but would have with her coaches fully on board. They didn’t hold her back to rise Zagitova, they did it because her attempt at a fully backloaded free skate early in the season was a complete failure jump wise, then she fractured her foot with her terrible jump technique, and they knew her chance to win wouldn’t happen with a fully backloaded free. Also-Zhenya started the whole back.loading trend, having done so with all her World short programs prior to Olympic season and almost fully backloaded free skates. She just hadn’t taken it all the way to fully loading both. But it was a rule she had taken advantage of, maybe to a lesser degree, though not by much, and a rule she had no issue with until Zagitova took it to the next level. Zhenya benefited greatly from that bonus herself, she only despised it when someone else outdid her with it. But neither gamed the system-they simply used what was legally allowed and not as egregious as front loading for those without the physical stamina to execute jumps further into the program. It was written into the rule book as allowed for anyone to strategize as an athlete and use to their advantage just as others use components and the GOE system to their advantage (and many legitimately gaming that system) and wisely play to their strengths. The rules apply to everyone, as is what the rules allow. Those calling for Alina to be penalized over something the rules allowed for are ridiculous, especially if they are fans of Zhenta, who did it before and would’ve done it again if she could pull it off physically, if it meant guaranteeing the win.
