Insane Floating Homes That Are Worth Millions

At the turn of the century fisherman and other people who made their money primarily by the sea started to string together their floating structures to form communities on the water where they made their living. When those communities faded from use they found new occupants in the artists and bohemian culture of the 1950s looking for a cheap alternate life surrounding the city centers where they would perform or display their works. These communities in areas like Seattle and Sausalito as well as the canals of Amsterdam began to attract a creative and free spirited population creating unique and colorful lives on the water. Like all good things these floating communities started to attract the attention of people with perhaps less creativity but certainly more money. In a pattern that would repeat in districts like it all over the world from Songwriters Row in Oakland to the Mitte in Berlin, people with money began to move in and price out the people who had been living there from the beginning. The houses become more elaborate, the features more lavish, and the architecture more involved. Now as concerns over water rising, natural disasters, and a shortage for housing, the ones that float are becoming more in demand for the people with in demand money. Now glass walls, open floor plans and sundecks have become the norm and houses on the water can outstrip the price of housing on the ground. What feature would you want in your floating digs to have?
