As a Chinese, I would say this blockade scenario has been discussed within PRC for years. We refer it to Beiping model which was how Beijing was liberated in 1940s civil war. It’s not new for any Chinese at all, while this is rarely heard or discussed outside China, although it is the most probable scenario.

"Nanjing" on your map is not Nanjing... it's probably Zhangzhou or Xiamen. Nanjing is much further north.

Guys, Nanjing南靖 County under Zhangzhou City in Fujian Province is not the same place as Nanjing南京 City in Jiangsu Province. The Chinese characters are different.

2:28 The Netherlands does not import all that volume for itself, and rather acts as a hub for Belgium and large parts of Germany for many goods and as a European port of entry for quite a few more countries for other goods. Large volumes of oil and gas are traded through The Netherlands as well. Therefore, Taiwan should be looked into more closely, as it is basically surrounded by the one nation that it does not deal but competes with, blocks access to its partners.

I strongly disagree with equating blockade with grey zone tactics, after all it was US oil embargo on Japan that triggered the Pacific war. No amount of media spin and narrative management will convince Taiwan and its allies a blockade is not an act of war.

We should also acknowledge that Taiwan is an island currently governed by the Republic of China (ROC), while the People's Republic of China (PRC) became the new government that replaced the ROC in mainland China in 1949. What is interesting think is by the law of both sides, the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China both show that China includes Mainland China and Taiwan, this was written even in the Constitution of Republic of China (Taiwan side). So when the world says China is bullying Taiwan because we said Taiwan is part of China, can any of you have a look of Taiwan's Constituion which says they should rule the mainland China! This is a non-end of our civil war.

Shirvan. A blockade is an act of war.
Usually done after the shooting starts, but not necessarily.
Infact Japan attacked the US in WW2 because the US imposed a embargo on oil and scrap metal on Japan, so Japan had six months of oil left before they ran out of it. So they decided to invade and conquer the Dutch East Indies ( Indonesia) French indo china ( Vietnam) and British Malaya ( Malaysia). The problem was that the Americans might intervene if their European cousin's were attacked, so they launched a pre-emptive strike on the US.

This is Sun Tzu 101. Art of war, chapter 3, “It is the rule in war, if our forces are ten to the enemy’s one, to surround him; if five to one, to attack him [immediately]; if twice as numerous, to divide our army into two [so as to execute a diversionary tactic].”

So basically China might do the same as the Trade Federation from Star Wars does to Naboo in Phantom Menace

The fact that it sounds very easy and yet has not been done so far should tell anyone that it's probably just as hard as war itself.

Just like in Ukraine, the U.S. will also ditch Taiwan

US only wanted Taiwan for its AI chip manufacturing, however as Taiwans main chip manufacturer TMSC is spending billions on chip plants in the US (with the first coming on line in mid 25) then the less the US needs Taiwan itself
