Honestly, This video is very reassuring. In the back of my mind, I often wonder how strong these 50 year old planes really are. I am really enjoying this series. Good work.

Shane is rad! Really great CFI. I spent 4 weeks in Florida flying that big hunk of Cherokee in 2018 and he really helped sharpen up my skills. I had to leave Florida but continued on in Utah with training. Then I had surgery on both shoulders. Now, FINALLY about to finish up my PPL and continue on with my ratings full-time since being furloughed at my day job at an airline.

That's pretty much how my first lesson went 😂

What about the rudder pedals!!! You could put WAY more force on them.

I always wondered how strong the linkage was on the flight controls. I guess they are rated 100 times greater than the pressure actually needed to fly the airplane. Thanks for the demo.

Seat rails seems impressive with their position holding. I don't know how the Cherokee designs are, or may be this one is in good condition. Unlike the 172s garbage design. Wears out easy. I'm sure if you guys did the push pull with a 172 the chintzy little brackets will bend on the seats and the position pins will pop out of the seat rails. Feels a bit bad about this bird seems like its in better shape than what I fly....Thank you very much for a great video.

You have to make a video detailing your experiences with these crazy students that you had to Austin Powers Judo chop in the throat to get them to release the controls. I'd love to hear the stories and also why people do what they do in those situations, very informative and fun video, thanks!

This video is very reassuring. Specially when doing maneuvers and pulling on that elevator doing steep turns or whatever. Thank you Jon.

The seat backs and seat rails took a lot of pressure and survived as well.

The title of this video should be, "He tried to break the flight instructor!"

It's good to know how well these aircraft are manufactured. Thank you for sharing..

I'm headed to the airport tomorrow to go flying as a certified private pilot with an instructor as I've been out of the flying for the last 12 years. I found this video wildly entertaining, so don't give me any ideas.

FAR 23.395, 23.397 & 23.399. In design you consider the maximum air loads on the surface and also the pilot loads (including pilots opposing each other).

Huh, they built planes like cars in the 50s, 60s and 70s! Good!
