I don't know what country you're talking about, but certainly NOT the US.
In this "democracy", 21% of the popular vote is enough to win a presidential election, as long as these 21% votes came from the right states, thanks to the electoral college.
And mostly (but not exclusively) republicans have been gerrymandering the country for decades to win political positions despite being outvoted!
And republicans have left no ideas untouched to exclude more voter groups who are not likely to vote in their favor from voting altogether or at least make it harder for them to vote.
From my pov, it's very debatable if the US even still classifies as a democracy at all.

Why would anyone honestly believe that the USA is the greatest democracy on earth? How could it be when every vote does not count the same through the electoral collage and through the manipulative gerrymandering.
The insane amount of money and time put in elections, Super PACs, Congress members trading stocks based on their earlier knowledge about the economy - nothing about that points to a well executed democracy.
