Anemia & Hair Loss: My Story and Recovery

———————————————————————————————

Iron deficiency anemia develops if your body doesn't have
enough iron to build healthy red blood cells.

Hemoglobin is the protein inside red blood cells that
carries oxygen through the body.

Oxygen helps the growth and repair of all body cells
including the cells that make up hair follicles.

This leads to hair thinning, hair loss and brittle nails.

———————————————————————————————

In this video, I discuss my battle with iron deficiency
anemia and how I recovered. I have struggled with anemia
for a good portion of my life. I have finally reached a point
where I feel that I have the anemia under control. I have
also found the BEST iron pills on the market that do not
hurt your stomach or have painful side effects.

Sometimes hair loss can be genetics but sometimes it
can be caused by anemia. If you believe you may be
anemic I urge you to visit a doctor and have your blood
levels tested first before taking any supplements.

I hope that my story was able to help at least 1 person
out there. I know I have struggled for years with my
hair and not knowing why it was thinning. Please share
your stories, tips and advice down below!

This video literally saved my life. I am a 51 year old woman who always had heavy periods but lately my periods were lasting a lot longer. My other female friends said it was normal and that I was going through the change. So my last cycle lasted for 6 weeks straight heavy without stopping. So I felt really weak and exhausted. I was waiting for my health coverage to begin for the ob gyn. Anyway, I was thinking that I had anemia. I looked up on YouTube and saw your video. So I was like wait a minute this woman has same exact symptoms as me. I couldn't hold out and went to the ER to get checked out. They took my blood levels and they were 5.3 and they said we're admitting you and that it was life threatening. What? Are you serious? If I didn't see this video I may have held off a few more days. Thank you for the video, it saved my life ❤

Does anyone ever feel like they are having a anxiety attack? I'm anemic and when my iron drops too low I feel really anxious. Thank you for sharing this video and I'm going to look up that supplement.

I was very anemic about a year ago. My hemoglobin levels were at a 7.8. I went to the doctor and he gave me iron injections for two weeks (10 shots total), iron supplements & B vitamins, and had me on an iron rich diet. To help my system digest the iron, I would eat lots of oranges (anything with vitamin C, excluding lemon) and take vitamins D3. I was able to raise my hemoglobin levels to a 10.2 in 2 months. I kept at it and I found that what helped me out the MOST was a beet, carrot & orange juice mix in the morning before breakfast. I went from 10.2 to 13.5 in about a month. My hair is now growing back curlier than ever and I feel great.

Anemia isn’t yours to keep. Disown it, that’s where healing begins. Thank you for sharing your experience🧡

So, so helpful! The hardest part of being severely anemic for so long is that you really only notice the fatigue and you learn to move beyond it! Thank you for the basics! So, incredibly helpful!

I take my iron pills at night right before bed and by the time I wake up I don't have to deal with the stomach ache because I've slept through it.

I overlooked all the symptoms but hair loss was my main concern. I had fuzzy vision episodes, intense tinnitus, greyish-tan skin, always cold and preferred heat, lightheadedness, fast heartbeat, tiredness, etc. There's probably more but like I said, I overlooked my symptoms.

My ferritin level was almost at a zero, so my doctor put me on a 65mg of iron pills per day (my body took it well thankfully). I also changed up my diet so I would consume meat at almost every meal. Just a little bit over 6 months, I re-took a blood test, and I'm now in the healthy range. It all depends on how much iron you take per day, not just pills. I recovered really quickly! My hair is growing back but I believe it'll take at least a year to look somewhat healthy as it once did.

To anyone who is anemic, you can get through this.

My haemoglobin was down to 1.6 and near death but was given an iron transfusion not a blood transfusion which worked extremely well!

Just found out today that I have very low iron and I'm 14. It is a shock but when I heard you talking about your ears hurting it reminded me of my physical education class and when I'd run too much I was in so much pain because of my ears. My ears would hurt to the point I would almost cry and I don't cry often but the pain was too much but I played it off and told my teachers and they agreed it was nothing. I finally understand that my body was giving me warnings. Thank you
