Upgrade to an M.2 NVMe SSD and Restore Windows 10 (without Cloning)

In this video, I show you how upgrade an HP Pavilion Desktop Model TP01-1016 to an M.2 NVMe SSD, while also removing the original hard drive. Afterwards, we'll restore the factory image containing Windows to the newly installed NVMe. Unlike my other videos on the subject of cloning, I'll be performing a factory restore using a bootable USB flash drive to reset Windows after I install the SSD.

The HP Pavilion comes with a Seagate 1TB hard drive that has Windows 10 Home installed on it. Though the hard drive runs at 7200 RPM, I'll be adding a much, much faster NVMe module, but at the same time, I'll remove the 1TB hard drive as I don't plan to use it. This brings up the question: how do we transfer Windows to a brand new, empty SSD if HP hasn't provided any installation media? #HPPavilion #NVMe #Windows10

Great tutorials. Have one of the TP01 Series Desktops and the removal and replacement videos were spot on and well presented. These are good value PCs and somewhat upgradable. I’ve added a stick of 8GB memory, removed and replaced the Wi-Fi 5 / Bluetooth 4 (it only had one of the tiny connectors attached but there was another unused wire hidden that enabled using the existing antenna!) NVMe with an Intel Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5 Card and now I plan on installing a low profile PNY 1030 video card. Your videos are the clearest and most professional I’ve found. Thanks. Very helpful. Had the number 15 Tork bit which made things easy.

I can confirm that this method works with the HP Elitebook 840 G4. I had a regular SSD, and switched to a Samsung 970 EVO Plus, NVMe SSD. Remember to update the BIOS before changing.

Very good. Works in ASUS, I guess the requirement is Windows. A warning, in my case it took 24 hours to write the USB and 24 hours to install on the new SSD. I was almost giving up but decided to wait in both cases as I read the process could be very long. The new installation works fantastic.

Excellent Video Tutorial as usual Sir. Question: Will this method work for and HP ENVY 750-116 Desktop as well ? And can I just leave the old 2TB HDD and wipe everything and use it as a storage for pictures and music ?

The cooling is aided a lot by moving to SSD. A good 512 SATA is about $33 if you shop carefully.

Can we then keep the HDd installed in the computer and use as extra storage?
