Should You Polish Your Car's Paint After Using a Clay Bar? In this video, I’ll be discussing the process of clay barring your paint to remove embedded contamination, and if machine polishing is necessary afterwards, to remove any potential marring, as clay bars are abrasive in nature and can potentially leave minor marring.

Great info Pan, thank you.
You know, I've spent 30+ years in the auto service department. I have no fear with the mechanical stuff. The scary paint stuff however, is another story. With your help, I've completely lost my fear of touching my paint for fear of scratching it. In the past couple months, I've just begun to "come out of my shell". I've wet sanded, paint corrected, bought a DA polisher, and applied a graphene coating. All because of your videos. Thank you sir.
Oh, and a tip of the hat from a fellow audiophile. Love your audio and HT rooms! Would love to see more of that content too.- Bob

I clayed a relative's non-coated black truck which hadn't been clayed in its 10 year existence, using medium clay, and it didn't need a polish after. I polished it anyway though.

It probably was covered but relating to ceramic spray coating. I’ve found final removal / final polishing is best performed with a very slightly dampened microfiber cloth . This is especially so on dark paint. Always work in the shade preferably inside.

Love the fact that mechanical decontamination tools have evolved into synthetic non abrasive form👍🏻. No more worrying about scratching the paint work. Phenomenal work Pan👍🏻❤️.

I've been searching for an answer to this question and have found nothing until now, particularly on whether polishing is necessary after using a synthetic decontamination towel. I got my answer. Merci beaucoup!

Good video Pan. The topic that I'm waiting for. I like to use traditional clay bar and after clay, I don't polish the surface. Now I understand why I can see some maring on the surface. I've learned a valuable lesson today. Thanks a lot to Pan. Double thumbs up always 👍👍

Thanks Pan. I have used a claybar and was surprised how much it picked up that I could not see.

Ive done alot of polishing after claying, , but many times, if the paint is in good shape to begin with, i can go right to sealing or spray waxing.
Its just a waste of time on certain vehicles. Great topic! 😎👍

Great topic Pan as people are often confused on the steps to take. A tip I learned from Miranda is to place the clay bar in a cup of warm water before you begin. This way the clay bar is easier to work with. I live ten minutes from the airport and the planes flying overhead leave a lot of contamination on my vehicles. I have to use iron remover on the back of the vehicles monthly. It just depends on your environment how much contamination you receive. Thank you for another great video!

I received my free kit. I applied it on a customers card. I applied it indoors control environment. Mine came out good is still beating after two weeks.

1. Agreed
2. Exception cld be, If the surface defects outweigh the marring from claying process and ur not required to polish & coat the paint, then no need to polish.
3. If u plan to polish/corŕect then feel surface and clay first... afterall ur going to enhance the surface.
Thank U.

Thanks Pan. I always learn something interesting and useful in watching your videos. I'm especially interested in possibly using these new synthetic clay towels in the future.
