As a global political economist, I can see that Taiwan leaders are not really smart enough to know that the USA is in pursuit of it's own geopolitical interest (containing China and ensuring complete US dominance of Asia-Pacific region) and geoeconomic interests (Taiwan's chip industries and Asia-Pacific huge market especially ASEAN). ASEAN has a population of over 660 million people with an aggregate economic size of about 3 trillion US dollars as per 2020 ( Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, 2022). If war breaks out between China and Taiwan, Nancy Pelosi's children will be very far and safe, while the children of Taiwanese women could get killed; Taiwan will get wrecked just like Ukraine, while the USA and mainland China will not get destroyed. This is the tragdey of great power politics.

China, Asia and ASEAN is the loser if the Taiwan straits becomes unsafe and unstable whilst the US thousand of miles away is relatively unaffected! U dont improve a relationship by disrespecting and violating agreements that has stood for decades and talk about status quo when the lines are shifted and policy violated!
