Is it necessary that diagonal element should be made 1 while finding rank of the matrix

I have a small doubt.. i got the echolen form Matrix the answer is correct & no of non zero rows is correct but some steps are different is it okay?

Is it mandatory that reduced matrix of all the different person with different row operations must be same? Or only rank matters?
