Liel Grosskopf A soda slushy can melt very quickly. Especially if where you live has a high humidity and/or high temperature. If you chill a bowl in the freezer first, it should help to keep your slushy cold longer.

My kiddos and I tried this Science trick with a canned Dr. Pepper and it worked great!! We did not shake it but instead placed the room temperature can in a 33'F freezer standing upright for 3hrs and 15 min. When the time was up, I removed it from the freezer and slowly opened the can releasing the pressure. I poured it slowly into a stainless steel insulated cup (not chilled). The first ounce or so was liquid but as I kept pouring, it began to "slushy up!" Not only was it a success, but it was delicious! Thank you for sharing the Science behind this fun trick. 😊#subscribersforlife

If you remove the bottle from the freezer at the right time, it won't be frozen. If you open the freezer and it's frozen then you need to let it fully melt before trying again. Any small ice crystals in your soda will cause it to freeze solid. Remember you need to make sure your freezer is set to, -24 Celsius or colder. After about 1.5 hours, check to see if it's frozen. If it isn't check every 15 min, until it freezes. The perfect time is 15 min less than the time it took to freeze.

In our experiment we froze the bottle before breaking the seal. Just make sure you shake it really good to get any large CO2 bubbles out of the soda and to increase the pressure as high as it can be. There are special vending machines (I believe in Japan) that distribute coke that is cold enough to turn into a slushy. A normal vending machine would not keep the soda cold enough to cause this effect. You could get one from a vending machine, shake it, place in freezer, and do this experiment.

I did this completely by accident with a ginger ale. I took it out of the freezer and it was still liquid. I screwed the top off and it immediately started turning into a slushie!

When you say frozen.. Do you mean any TRACE of ice or frozen solid?

What happens is that it never seem to freeze into a slushy mixture when I slowly open up the bottle ( it has little ice crystals when I take the bottle out of the freezer, though )
I can never get to find the right time to take them out!!

Thx 😃

About the soft part...

It takes lots of skills to do that when you're anxious..
