Ford didn't take the government bailout, and when they had bad tires on their machines, they replaced them, free. I don't know if any of you out there remember this, but ford broke up a long relationship with Firestone over it. Then offered to replace any and all the questionable tires for free. I had two vehicles in my driveway, 2001 Explorer, and 1999 F150. Both received new tires for free. I'm sure I'm not the only one who received this offer, and know it had to cost Ford a pretty penny to replace all that faulty rubber. It wasn't even Fords fault, yet they stood up for what was right. For this reason, and a few others, I am a faithful Ford guy. I have owned every manufacturer out there, some I like, some not so much, but after all is said and done, Ford is my favorite company for trucks. Good luck.

I drove both I personally like the drive of the F150 better, but being a mechanic and working on these trucks all the time the truck I want for the long haul after 10 years is a Silverado so if you're gonna keep it a while go for the Silverado, it's LS engine will run forever, all that technology in the F150 it's nice when it's new but 7-8 years down the road when the turbo chargers and exhaust manifolds are falling off of it from the salt in the Northeast, and the engine is tired, you're gonna wish you had the Silverado's built like an anvil simple 2 valve cam in block V-8.even fords 5 L V8, it makes a lot of horsepower at 5600 rpm, but is always shifting because it doesn't have a lot of torque in the low-mid range, where the engine spends 90% of the time, and all of their engines still have cam phaser issues. Again the GM engine will outlast any of these Fords 3 to 1.this is coming from a guy who likes the F150 better...

Did everyone already forget about the spark plug issues with the Fords.

So basically, Ford weighs less, hauls more, better fuel economy, & is more popular.

The reason why the Silverado has a lower maximum price is because it has less trim levels. If you were to list them with equivalent trim levels, it would look like this:
XL/WT
XLT/LT
Lariat/ LTZ
King Ranch/High Country
Platinum
Limited

i like the idea of a tt v6 with power of v8 to get better fuel economy but 10 years down the road those turboes will have to eventually be replaced

What if you add the GMC brand trucks in that equation for trucks sold?

The real sales figures for the Silverado/Sierra (the Silverado/Sierra twins must be combined since the F150 doesn't have a model twin)= 2016: 796, 556 units (kudos to Ford), 2009: 428, 386 units (kudos to GM), 2004: 894, 524 units (kudos to Ford, well both companies really, that's a lot of trucks), and in 2001: 926, 205. GMC had it's best year in 2005, that makes for a total unit number of 935, 468. Point here is that the numbers aren't all that lopsided. If you like the GM twins you'll buy whichever has the better looking grille to you in the year you are in the market for a new truck. And Ford knows they are manipulating data when they claim to have the undisputed best seller for 35 years, which is false if you combine the GM trucks (they are the same truck).

I have a few things to point out about these stats. 1) the F-150 extended cab or "SuperCab" as they call it does still have 4 doors. Just the two rear doors open the opposite way and you have to open the front door first. A little bit of an inconvenience, but not enough to stop me from purchasing my supercab. 2) The main reason for the difference for difference in sales is probably due to GM also selling the GMC Sierra alongside the Silverado.

I personally prefer GM/Chevy over Ford, though Ford has made leaps and bounds on their quality over the last 20 or so years. I would drive either truck, as they are both awesome, but my preference still stands with the Chevy.

Also, do not forget that the 10 speed Auto Transmission on the Ford was made in Partnership with GM/Chevy. Though currently I believe Chevy is only using it in the Camaro ZL1 (I could be wrong)

Im a chevy guy, but i can't stand the 2014 and up silverado are burning a lot of oil due to the flexfuel. I was also informed about front differential breaking/issues correct me if im wrong.

I hope nobody takes this all seriously, his numbers and specs are a bit off. For instance, the 3.5L na V6 does not have the exact same output as the 5L V8. This was almost as painful as watching Trump speak unscripted.

What people don't say is if you combine sierra and Silvarado since their the same truck out sales the f 150

The main reason for me going with Ford has nothing to do with these numbers. May seem silly, but I hate not being able to TURN OFF Chevy headlights at night with the engine running, and I like the Ford doors opening up with a pull of the handle even if the door is locked.

I'm disappointed with my 2015 silverado it's back and forth to the dealer for water leaks and failed air conditioning an overwhelming number of these trucks are failing in these categories. Aside from that the seats are uncomfortable and the doors sound horrible if you are not carful when closing them. The next truck will be a Toyota.
