Cheers Fordy, my longest run of 20 miles on Sunday followed by 2 weeks of taper for VLM, I can't wait! Was pleased to hear your preference to a 2-week taper.

Frustrating that today was meant to be my LONGGGG run but had a pain in my calf since Fridays run and didn’t want to agitate it. Hoping to get the long run in on Tuesday (maybe not as long due to being back at the office) and then tapering down. Seeing this has made me realize a two week/two and a half week taper may work okay. Got hackney half the week before VMLM too!

No tapering for me anymore. Finished my race. The GNR. You weren't lying Chris. Amazing race, amazing people. Got to come back and do the proper Newcastle to South Shields run. Does it get any better than this?

I've just about completed the Brighton Marathon on Sunday, pulled a hamstring just after half way but managed to somehow get to the end (mainly due to the fantastic support!). Point is that my hamstrings and legs felt tight in general during the taper as they always have done in the past. I think it's a factor of muscles and tendons repairing and adjusting to the reduced volume and intensity. Lesson learned is to focus even more on warming up and stretching in the taper and keeping some speed work in to keep things loose, throw in some strides at the end of the runs should help.

Interesting what you say. I've read alot about tapering and there appears to be a good support in keeping intensity up and drop mileage but as you said it's all about what works for you.
