Top freezers are best for durability and electrical consumption since the compressor is at the bottom of the appliance.

Bottom freezer is easier to access for daily use. What is the reason why it costs significantly more? I have a freezer with 3 drawers. Only the drawer I open gets ice on the radiator pipes. Any spills are contained in the drawer, which can be removed and washed without defrosting the unit. The top freezer in this example looks like the fridge my family had 50 years ago. All wide open. The transparent polycarbonate shelves don't look durable either.

My 22 year old Maytag bottom freezer finally bit the dust. Can’t complain since it had a good run. That said, I replaced it with a 33”GE top freezer. I always found the bottom freezer annoying to use. Having a top freezer with shelves makes it easier to organize and now I have space for ice cube trays 🎉.

I have a bottom freezer that slides which is harder to clean, have more screws and parts to remove, and you got to bend down to clean below. My suggestion is GET THE TOP FREEZER!!

But why the price difference? Why make it the inconvenient way at all? Is it an engineering cost savings? Energy savings? Also, audio is slightly harsh on peaks, but still good clarity.

We bought an Amana Bottom freezer in September 2000 with ice maker. Touch on wood, January of 2024, it's still running. I hope I don't jynx by posting this.

When I was younger, we had a top freezer refrigerator, which works in my favor because I just obtain water and ready-to-eat items from the fridge. I don't cook and I don't access the freezer frequently. Now that I am a grownup and physically taller, we purchased a new refrigerator with a bottom freezer (Panasonic). It's also convenient for me because I don't have to bend as much, which hurts my back. My business is mostly with the fridge, which is now chest level. 🫶🏻🤣

I have to very much disagree with your video. First for budget top freezers are just as much today as bottom freezers if you are looking at only two doors. Secondly I have never ever considered a bottom freezer because family members have 'fallen for the latest kitchen gadget'., the bottom freezer. They absolutely do not hold as much product that can be easily retrieved. I do a lot of freezing prepared meals and I can fit so much in my top freezer. It is a nightmare going in to someones bottom freezer. As for not having the refrigerator at eye level is not a problem in the least. If what you are looking for is easily seen great, if not one step back from the refrigerator allows you to get a good look without bending over for too long. I would never ever buy a bottom freezer. Just my opinion. ; )

You did not mention that freezertops tend to be more efficient in nature. It is self evident that the section of the fridge at eye and arm level is going to be what is better for you. Pointless video

Tldr. top freezer for efficency, bottom freezer for convenience
