I like this video as its interesting to see the difference in thinking. To OVERSIMPLIFY Product Managers seem to think bottom up (very process and silo driven) whereas Consultants / Investors seem to think more top down and broadly when it comes to a situation.

Some notes:

Personally find the GUCCI framework for SHOULD X ENTER Y MARKET to be a bit lacking as one could think of market entry as a multi faceted problem that does not necessarily need to tie to an UNMET demand.

What interviewees need to think about is how and why something would add value to the business model across: the market vertical / value chain, Horizontal markets (adjacent offerings), Product, Operations, Geographies.

Then you layer that with understanding the competitive and market dynamics (PESTEL, SWOT, whatever framework you choose), market sizing etc.

BUT it is crucial to understand that sometimes an entry decision may not be purely about growth, it can also be to build a defensive moat or simply a necessary hygiene factor. Sometimes you just cannot enter because of environmental blockers, etc... and that's the nuance that needs to be applied based on judgement.
