I think it's worth it to mention that TeX was created by the legendary Donald Knuth but LaTeX was authored by Leslie Lamport, hence the prefix of "La" in LaTeX.

Hi, what about TeXmacs? This combines many of the advantages of both Word and LaTeX. Did you try it?
