As a O11 user with 9 fans, many fans (like the great value arctic p12) you can just connect 3 together for a single header, without a hub. built plenty of PCs with no hub and no issue, only need like 3 fan headers (in addition to CPU fan header)and youre so fine. ARGB headers you're right though, might need a hub

I did not know about these hubs and always wondered how to connect many fans. Thank you for this. May seem simple to you, but some guys like me needed to know.

Thanks for the help Zach. I left my corsair hub and plan to sell it cuz' I had a Kolink build (PC Case + fans incl. ARGB). And I didn't need a hub since the pc case had the components for the functions 👍🏻🙂

6 is the most I've chained without issue. I recommend chaining 3 at a time for best results

I have an ASrock Nova. It has 9 total ports for individually controlled fans.

Very useful for the *Passive* PC I have as all fans will spin at around 600rpm under full load and can turn off when under medium to light loads.

When it comes down to fans and with fans that have argb I only connect 3 of them at a time on one header. Also one tip I can offer is when you get round to tidying your cables round back make it so you can alter each type of wire. Nothing worse than having to undo all of your work just so you can swap out one or two parts.

this is the only real thing i dislike about pc building, the fans. and especially cable management. i would never consider getting a bunch of fans again unless they daisy-chain

This is a super informative video. Answers all the little questions. Well done

Arctic fans have daisy chain in them by default, overall very good fans. I don't like fans with lights, but I think Arctic does make those too

My Mainboard has five 4 Pin connectors for fans and I use four of them for all four fans in my PC.

Two are used for the Noctua NHD15 and two are used for two huge Noctua fans pushing out the hot air through the top of my PC case.

Hot air is also pushed out through the backside via the GPUs (no Fan connector needed)

Air intake is in the front, where the SSDs are and on the side, direct underneath the GPUs. The rest of the case is pretty much sealed, to prevent sucking in hot air again.

Full load and full Speed of fans = 59 °C CPU and 72 °C GPU temp (air temp outside the case = 20 °C)

So I think it’s good enough. PC was built by me in 2017 and I had no idea, what I was doing, not overclocked yet, airflow optimization was made in 2019, changing the previously installed AIO Watercooling to the Noctua NHD15 and as you see, it still works well enough for me.

CPU = Intel i7 6900k
GPU = 2x Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition
Mainboard = AsRock X99 Taichi

My next PC build is planned for 2027, so I hope my build lasts till then, enabling me to save enough to build something sick.

Other option, get a fan extension cable, remove the power wires from the female end, get a SATA or Molex Power Cable and solder the 12V power from the SATA or Molex Power to the fan cable power wires, so you're only using the signal wires from the fan connector of the motherboard.
I've done that in the past, works really well, only reason I don't use that any more is because of the included fan hub in my case.

I used the ASUS Z790A Gamining WiFi II, have 11x 120 fans w/ arbg, argb AIO, and a GPU w/ argb. Works like a dream, they all connected seamlessly.
