MY SOCIAL MEDIA:

Do you want to improve your pronunciation? I have launched my British English (Modern RP) pronunciation course! I’ll train you to read phonetic transcriptions, and produce each sound that comprises modern received pronunciation. I’ll also teach you how to implement the correct use of intonation, stress, rhythm, connected speech, and much more. We’ll compare similar sounds, and look at tricky topics like the glottal stop and the dark L.
Technically, I need to mark this as an AD even though it is my own company so - AD :)

Something that worked well for me was to force myself to think in English. Somehow it became easier to stop translating everything. Thanks for the video Lucy ❤️

I talk to myself on a daily basis to improve my English. Honestly what I do is just to stand in front of the mirror and pretend to be an english teaching YouTuber like YOU & start explaining all the lessons I have learnt from your channel. Thank you for being such a good teacher.. Grateful to have you!

It’s the best advice! I used to teach Russian and I was always telling my students to stop translating in their heads 😊 I love your channel Lucy! You inspired me to start my own :)

One tip 🍎surely works :
*while listening to Lucy mam, start repeating her words in the same tone with same body language, you can play the video at low speed if you want so. I've tried. It works. All the best. ✨

When I just started to think in English I didn't even notice it. That had been happening for a couple of days and then, I was like '' daaaamn I just thought in English, how the hell did it happened?'' and then I continued to think and talk in English in my head, and it really helped, now there are almost no things that I can't think about:) So you also need to practice a lot and force yourself a little bit;))

Thank you Lucy, I knew you when I was in the level of reading subtitles to guess what you meant. Now, I’m able to understand what you are saying without subtitles ❤️

Guys I can confirm this really works. I've been talking to my self and thinking in english. And it actually have improved my talking speed, pronouncing and also I've learned to have words from diffrent languages for the thing. Its hard to explain but like I don't translate in my head anymore Its like i just understand what i hear instantly. Xd its really hard to explain, and fun part is that I've done this without knowing it actually improved my english :D

This is the one problem that I'm going through right now. Whenever I try to make sentences or understand a English word my mind automatically try to convert that word in to my mother tongue.. Thank you so much Lucy for coming out with this topic to help me out 😊

Hello, Lucy :) Thanks a lot for your advice :) I always find your lessons really useful. As for the methods, I often use number four and five. I prefer to read newspapers in English/French, speak to myself, watch the tv shows in my target languages etc. Also, sometimes when my parents ask me something, I reply in English/French/Spanish and German :) Because that time, I feel like replying in those languages. Once, one of my English teachers said '' When something comes to your mind, that could be an expression, a proverb, don't block yourself, just spill it out, get it off your chest. No matter there isn't any person around you who can understand that. İt will allow you to have self-confidence while speaking. Another point is that I sometimes have a dream in my target languages :) İt seems that I am getting closer to achieve my target. speak like a native speaker.

Thanks a lot once again. Good luck in your new neighbourhood. Have a nice weekend :)

Thank you Lucy for these useful tips. Although sometimes I think in English only it's becoming hard to sustain that habit over time. However, thanks to your handy 5 steps I'm sure it'll possible to accomplish the objective!

Though I know and can converse in English well, this channel is so professional that I need to watch these videos, to improve my fluency to extremely good levels. Lucy, you are a pro.

I've been able to do that for many years now. It started with spending 6 weeks of work training in Devon, buying books and more books, reading in English, watching shows and films in English etc...
At some point my brain stopped translation/echoing in German and it was natural.
I often think in English, too.
Stay safe and well, hugs from a safe distance ❤🇬🇧❤
