On a balmy afternoon, I had my favorite Aussie, Jon from Mtn Bike Geek, help me attempt a Cushcore install. It started out easy, and in true Terrible Technician fashion, got progressively harder.

That was fun to watch. I've seen so many people complain about how hard they were to put on that I've completely checked them off of the list of things I want to buy.

I struggle enough just getting the tire seated on my rims. I probably end up hanging myself with the Cushcore before I ever got this thing on.

This is by far the most complicated thing to install in your bike guaranteed

Install Cush core it took me 1 hour for the first wheel and 30 minutes for the second wheel. My first time by myself.

Iv'e had a worse result with my install. I installed one onto my front tyre and had a huge struggle getting the last bits of the tyre bead on . Went to the tracks, kitted up and set off and calamity I have buckled my Rim badly .

😂 this was awesome!
I actually helped my LBS install the Cushcore on my rig, front and rear. (Bc I wanted to know how to do it).
And with me and a mechanic, it wasn't too bad... We just watched and followed the install vid... And took some tips and tricks from Phil's recent cush core vid... Used a hammer on the floor for stretching it on... And a garbage can for bead install 🤷‍♂️ seemed way easier than everyone makes it out to be...
I'm thinking I'll remove it from the front (noticably WAY HEAVY)... And install on a friend's rear... Maybe it'll be worth filming 😂

Wow. I’ve heard how tough it can be to install, but that looked painful. I’ve been trying to learn to do a lot of maintenance/installs myself, but that would be one I’d avoid.

Wow everyone seems to struggle with these things!

For it to do it’s job it’s intended for I guess it’s gotta be difficult to install, I mean if it was loose inside just floating around it wouldn’t do much

Any noticeable difference while riding, or is it mostly a preventative measure?

I'm looking at cushcore. How do you like it so far?

I have not heard good things about the Arc rims. I think new rims are almost required for a lot of bikes. It seems that is a spot most manufactures cheap out.

yet my mechanic did it without a tyre lever or soap under twenty minutes including first time tubeless setup fuaaaark
