Sybil claims the ad cost £40 then wishes the Morris couple stay a week as it might pay for the ad. Dividing 40 by 7 we get £5.71. Is she then suggesting Fawlty Towers charges £6 or less per night for a hotel room in 1975? What were the average hotel rates irl back then?
