Richard the Lionheart TRULY depicts courage and Greatness. One of my most ever influential leaders. Long live Richard!

One reason he was admired was his courage and dedication to Christianity, but another was probably his low tolerance for corruption. People in posistions of power who abused their authority were dealt with harshly by Richard and replaced with more competent figures. When he left for the Crusade he made sure to give command of his kingdom over to the most reliable people he knew. These people included: his mother Eleanor, William Marshal, Hugh de Puiset, William de Mandeville and William de Longchamp. All experienced and competent politicans

The reasons for Eleanor going back to France run much deeper than him having a mistress! Which is also the reason their sons turned on the father

"...Richard was oddly admired by his English subjects" shows how contemporary historians are such naive fools! The English people back then wanted in their king a fearsome warrior skilled in the art of war, and in that Richard I was eminently qualified. Also Richard was not in the realm to bother them with taxes for cathedral or monastery building or for incessant campaigns against the Scots and Welsh, no they were left alone to till their fields to tend their livestock and pay what was due to the king for his crusade. The reports of their king's martial exploits in France and the Holy Land were unto them like stories of a hero battling villains, for with him England was safe.

Richar was French by his father, from the royal dynasty of the Plantagenets, from the House of Anjou and by his mother Aliénor
of the House of Aquitaine. He was raised in Aquitaine with his mother
In ten years of reign, he stayed only six months in all in England, from August 13 to December 12, 1189 and from March 13 to mid-May 1194

King Richard I and his younger brother King John I of England were both natural redheads with light blue eyes and extremely pale skin. 🎭🩰🎨

Quite a good short story...but I suppose you hadn't time to present a few important issues about this legendary King (issues not very honorable). I personally like Richard the Lion Heart because of Robin Hood! Lol

He was a bad son, a bad husband, and a bad king. But he was splendid and gallant soldier Sir Steven Runciman on Richard 1st
