Ukraine taking over Moldova would *not* be a novelty in history! The lands of Moldova (incuding the Romanian part of the Moldavia region) were part of the Kievan Rus'. *Knyaz Svyatoslav Igorevich* of Kiev conquered Bulgaria in 967-969 AD, extending his rule over the lands of modern Moldova and Eastern Romania (i.e. the Moldavia region).

Between 969-971 AD, the *capital* of the *Rus'* was moved from Kiev to *Pereyaslavets* (modern Nufăru, Romania), which was actually oficially named Prislav until 1968. The possessions of the Rus' in the Eastern Balkans (incl. Pereyaslavets) were lost to the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire in 971.


Otherwise there would have been a *Slavic superstate* in Eastern Europe, ruling even more lands than Muscovy from our timeline! And maybe there would've been *no need* for a *Russia-Ukraine war* any more, since the Slavs would've been united from the borders of Greece to the shores of the Arctic Ocean!

But there would likely have been no Eastern Romance languages anymore, or maybe Romanian would've only been spoken by a couple hundreds of thousands of people (similarly with Aromanian in the Balkan Peninsula).
