We as riders have to come together and commit to not giving KTM a single cent of our money until they get rid of their demo modes. If we don't, other companies will absolutely follow suit once they see they can get away with it.

The KTM demo mode is bs. I would definitely skip KTM for that reason

The issue with demo mode, as I see it, is if I bought one, I'd be paying for the hardware. I really doubt KTM is taking a loss on that hardware even if I don't opt to pay for activation.

For me: v-strom 800DE. Not too big, not too small, more versatile, not too expensive as well.

ADV’s are quickly becoming the motorcycle version of SUV’s that never see dirt or gravel.
Already they are becoming clones of one another.

One thing I love about being Dyslexic is I’m gonna keep calling it the translap

The unlock thing for the KTM´s is a total dealbreaker for me

But in general all the electronic gizmos do in my mind set some bikes back. the more electronics the more can go wrong in the middle of nowhere.

Touring into Farawayistan reliability is king!

Demo mode is a rip off selling bikes like a DLC of a game a bit of a rubbish in my opinion.

Ktm already have a shoddy reliability .. coupled with CF moto who is a fairly new automotive company raises concerns .. I had ktm 390 duke .. it had so many issues like oil leak, chasis bend, engine knocking in second gear etc. If priced well in india I'll definitely go to Honda or Suzuki this time around..

I worked for Malaysian Chinese company and had projects tendered to and won by Chinese companies. The thing you have to watch is that they will lowball a bid to win a contract with stated technical specs and then if you don’t watch them like a hawk they will try to cut corners to claw their way back up the money tree.

If the transalp got a DCT, tubeless wheels it would have been a top seller ADV but Honda would never make it this way otherwise the more heavy, pricy Africa twin will be out of the window

Honda Africa for me if you are seriously touring with off-road also

hearing about what ktm did to disable those features makes me want to buy that bike and get them working WITHOUT paying ktm, and then tell them.

That's how life should be if you ride a bike, it matters not one jot, what walk of life your from

It's a pity some people turn their nose up at others,
Great video,

I would really like to see (I know it's not easy) reviews regarding the durability and resistance of these bikes on long trips. We always have evaluations about performance, torque, electronics etc. etc. but we never find anything about fatigue, breaks, durability, percentage of breaks (fracture) and defects, electronic breakdowns etc etc. As a Tiger user for over 8 years and thousands and thousands of kilometers on many adventures throughout South America and the Amazon, I can guarantee that the Tiger is indestructible, giving you a lot of security and peace of mind that you will leave and return with the same bike. I see many "" bizarre "" reports and stories regarding the fragility of certain brands that compete with Triumph. I'm afraid to deal with a specific brand. Please, where are the evaluations about durability, resistance, or is this not important for someone who is going to make a trip of 12, 000 km?

These reviews as the BEST bike is so subjective. BEST means many things to many people..

Should say the best adventure bikes on paper that I’ve never ridden nor know if that they’re going to be the “best”

I decided not to buy a KTM 1290 because I refuse to pay extra to open up software - its a rip off. That would have been my third SuperDuke R.

My next adventure bike will NOT have a subscription based feature attached to it! Unless it’s mileage based and modestly priced with free updates…but I will work to avoid it 1st. Because it will lower resale value as well.
